Really nice. I used to come here a lot 20 years ago and this ramp never looked this good. Wish they put some street lights up but I guess nobody wants to be on the river after dark.

The area around the boat ramp looks like a dump site. Food, bottles, trash is littered all around. We have our home for sale and potential buyers went to look and came back saying they weren't interested following their visit to the boat landing. This is very saddening to know that Duke Power isn't monitoring the area to keep it clean and safe.

Went to the ramp on May 20 2024 and found it to be redone and opened up again. Newly paved parking for cars and trailers. They added 4 or 5 trash cans and moved the ramp to the side of the river instead of the point where the small lake comes in to the river. No more muddy ramp for now. Also, as a warning to people who are in boats and not been here before. About 1.6 miles up river, there is a spot where they dredge out sand. If you are going up the river, there will be a big pile of sand on your right on the bank, and there is an 8 to 10 inch pipe they use to dodge with floating in the river. Some spots the pipe is visible some spots it ls no danger but when we went through there, there was probably 40 feet of pipe floating just below the surface. Almost hit it but dodged it last second. Don't know if it would have broke something or not but didn't want to find out.

The worst Boat Ramp that I've been to. I kayak fish and it was terrible even for kayaks. No way you could you could get a boat in there. I understand it's a river and the water rises and falls, there are river's all over the U.S. that have boat ramps that work. I'm sure we are paying taxes for it somewhere and if you have Duke Power I'm sure you're paying for it with them also. If you need river access use the Union County access.

I drove by the check out the ramp. I thought I might do a little river fishing. Ramp is terrible. The good reviews were all several years ago. Duke power, or someone needs to do some maintenance.
