Choestoe, this is a native American word, Algonquin I think. I will study up on it and post my findings. Meaning is where rabbits dance or dancing rabbits. I think that it is referring to spring time when you may see rabbits jump straight up in the air. I have seen them do this in spring at night when I caught them in my headlights. Anyhoo, the Choestoe area is very beautiful all times of the year. There is property there that is managed by the Department of Natural Resources and this property can be archery hunted during scheduled seasons for turkey and deer. This property although not technically Fants Grove property,it is listed as such in the DNR regulations. I Google earthed it last week so I could gauge a walk that I wanted to take. My dog Maggy and I parked near the boat ramp and went thru the woods to the first cove to the left of the boat ramp. We picked up a little litter along the way and went over a ridge and to the back of the long deep narrow cove which is the second cove to the left. We stepped out from under the canopy and I heard a woosh. Maggy heard this woosh and immediately was looking overhead. I have seen Osprey and even eagles dive for fish but only at a distance. The woosh was a very large Osprey that came down ,hit the water and went completely out of sight. It came to the surface, shook off a little and took flight with a small bass approximately 12 inches. This took place in a matter of seconds but I was so amazed that I can replay it perfectly in my mind. I had no idea that they hit the water so hard. It was a very nice walk around the shoreline and through the woods and by the food plots there. We picked back up with our litter pick up and got almost everything from the cove back to the ramp. You can't get it all but if we all get a little it makes an enormous difference. I encourage you to visit Choestoe boat ramp and if it's not hunting season take the time to at least walk the road bed that winds through the property. Be safe!

Great boat ramp... Needs better security there at least patrol once or twice. And clean up the boat ramp. People are lazy and leave trash

Just your basic boat ramp in the middle of nowhere. Secluded would be more appropriate I guess. It does have a dock to park the boat while you park your vehicle.

Nice boat ramp. plenty of parking and an easy ramp to back a boat trailer down. Nice new loading and unloading dock.
